From "Lady" India

             Why?

Wherever I go asking for donation, people ask me why I would “waste” my time doing this and why I don’t go, sit at home and study, frankly I’d rather spend my time doing this because it not only helps me feel like a better person but it makes people happy, inspires other children to be doing the same thing and what not, some people think I do this so that it looks good on my college application, some think it’s because I want fame, and some think my parents force me to be doing this, to be true I don’t think any of us kids doing this least care about a college degree or fame, it makes us happy and so we do it. A few weeks ago me and my friend were really bored, we had nothing to do and so we took out a sheet, scribbled a few things on and wrote why we wanted people to donate to poor children, we thought about handing out flyers but we almost forgot that we had to be the change we want to see in people, and so we set out and collected donation from the apartments we live in, we had collected enough money to feed about 20 children, seeing their faces after they are given such a small thing like biscuits is something that cannot be expressed by words, cookies, we can eat those every day, but 1 pack of them can make a child’s day,  their joyous faces lighten up your mood for days, it makes me wonder that I want an i-phone, a new T.V but all they want are normal everyday things like toothbrushes, books, toffees, towels, soap, etc. If this is all they want why do we need more? We are all human, none of us have super-ultimate needs, then why can’t we be happy in what we have, we are lucky enough to have it, and you will realise that once you see the look on the little kids faces full of joy when they receive a piece of candy.  Most of my friends were not too excited but since my mom does this and my dad is very generous with everyone who asks for his help, I think they have passed on the same emotions to me. When we were done distributing cookies and biscuits me and my friends could not wait to do this again. Last year we actually put up a stall for selling cupcakes and cookies, all the money that we got was given to Arnimaal so that they could buy books and games for more children. This tells you that we kids don’t “waste” our time doing this, we use this time to make people happy, make ourselves better people, and of course spread the message, so next time you see a kid standing at your door step asking for donation, DO NOT THINK TWICE! Just do it, trust me.
